- Zulekha Hospital partners with Dubai Health Authority to provide young people free vaccination against measles
A new immunisation campaign against measles has been launched across the UAE to reduce the prevalence of the disease among those between the ages of 1 and 18 years.
Zulekha Hospital, a pioneer in UAE healthcare, has partnered with the Dubai Health Authority to encourage residents in the Emirates to visit its Dubai branch for a free vaccination to eradicate measles.
The Ministry of Health successfully conducted a workshop to train all health officials from Zulekha Hospital involved in the National Measles Immunisation Campaign, which runs until 26 November.
Those who wish to take advantage of the free service are invited to call 600 52 4442 for more information; the timings at Zulekha Hospital Dubai are as follows:
Zulekha Hospital Dubai will provide children with one dose of measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine by injection at its vaccination department located on 1st floor
Zanubia Shams, CEO of Zulekha Hospital, said: “Measles is one of the leading causes of death amongst children worldwide, which is why our drive to encourage the community to take advantage of the free vaccinations for the National Measles Immunisation Campaign is so important.
“We are honoured to be working closely with Dubai Health Authority and hope our input can help eliminate the disease from the UAE.”
The campaign, which is being held in partnership with Dubai Health Authority and the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi, is aimed towards preparing health professionals to provide free immunisation for Emiratis and UAE residents.
Measles is a highly contagious disease contracted by the measles virus, which primarily infects young children and adults, spreading easily through coughs and sneezes of those infected.
One of the forerunners in UAE healthcare, Zulekha Hospital has earned widespread recognition for service to patients, collecting the Dubai Quality Award twice in the last four years.
The hospital is frequently playing its part towards society and most recently spearheaded a new breast cancer awareness initiative to help reduce the incidence of the disease and save lives across the Emirates.
