- Modhesh World’s space of entertainment and live performances also includes theatrical adaptation of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘The Adventures of Peter Pan’
Growing from strength since its first edition in 2001, Modhesh World is sparing no efforts in tapping into the power of storytelling to engage with its little audience members and win the trust of parents who choose the largest indoor seasonal theme park as a preferred destination in summers.
Fans of animated characters and popular bedtime stories have reasons to celebrate this season. Live performances of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘The Adventures of Peter Pan’ are arranged in ‘Show Town’ which is located in Hall 6 of the World Trade Centre. The expertly choreographed shows bring to life popular tales through an all-immersive experience and use vivid imagination, sound effects, light projections and interaction with the crowd. The performances are also aimed at imparting valuable lessons and inculcating good manners that contribute towards a happy society.
A star-studded addition to this entertainment comes in the form of multi-talented Egyptian artist Tamer Hosny, who is scheduled to visit Modhesh World on June 29 to meet with fans and promote his upcoming film “TISBAH ALA KHAIR” before his visit to Arabian Center later in the day. To build up excitement amongst his fans who reside in the UAE, Dubai Tourism has announced a competition across the park’s official social media platforms where winners will have a meet and greet opportunity with the superstar himself.
Suhaila Saqer Obaid Ghubash, Director, Festivals and Events, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), said: “Theatrical performances are an important component of Modhesh World. While rides and games are very popular with kids, the art of storytelling carries its own significance especially in the formative years of a child. Moreover, live performances are an opportunity to explore the use of innovative storytelling tools in theatre and engage with the performers.”
She added: “Another activity that we are all eager to witness at Modesh World is Tamer Hosny’s visit. An entertainer of his caliber has carved a niche in the hearts of people in the region, and this will be a fantastic opportunity to share space with the star and capture the moment with the entire family.”
Alice in Wonderland Alice, a 19-year-old, has brought her adventures from a magical world of talking animals and conspiring villains to Modhesh World. She overcomes her fears and is driven by the quest of restoring the rightful queen of this magical world. The theatre adaptation of the fantasy novel is accompanied by lifelike costumes and makeup, extravagant props, songs, synchronised dance routines and a modern twist to sound effects – dangerous moments are aptly indicated by the title soundtrack of popular TV show ‘Game of Thrones’. Throughout the 30-minute show, artists involve kids from the audience at various parts of the story
What children learn: Artists have been particular about bringing important values to the fore through Alice’s life. Children take home the importance of avoiding cheating and lies. It also teaches that if someone commits a mistake but genuinely apologizes, people are willing to give each other a second chance.
