On the occasion of inauguration of first phase of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI), the Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was found very happy. After the inauguration, he visited different sections of the hospital and inspected the facilities provided there. He also talked to doctors, nurses and other staff. He expressed his happiness over the completion of first phase of the project and said that now he will not have to go abroad for medical inspection as international-quality medical facilities are arranged in this hospital.
During the ceremony, a national song was also sung with the couplet ‘Aay Rohe-e-Qaid Aaj ke Din Hum Tum se Wadah kartay hain’ and Chief Minister and others raised national flags on this occasion.
Dr. Saeed Akhtar said that inauguration of first phase of the hospital under the leadership of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif is a miracle. This dream has been given the practical shape very speedily and I am thankful to the Chief Minister, after Allah Almighty, as he has always given me tremendous support. He said that when he met Shehbaz Sharif and talked about setting up of this institution, then Shehbaz Sharif asked me to start the work and assured that there will be no political interference in it. All the matters including recruitment of doctors and nurses have been made purely on merit. Chief Minister or anybody from his office did not interfere at all. Shehbaz Sharif is personally supervising the whole project and more than 70 doctors previously working in the USA and UK have been hired. By the Grace of Allah Almighty, this institution will emerge as an international standard hospital. He further said that Chief Minister went to inspect this hospital at 6:30 in the morning some days back when he returned from London to Lahore and reviewed progress on the project. Provincial Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and Secretary Health Najam Shah also spoke on the occasion.
