- Dubai Chamber hosts series of Business Best Practice Seminars as part of the 10th cycle of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award
- Seminars examined the role of innovation, leadership, employee engagement and CSR in boosting organisational growth, as well as key challenges facing businesses

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently hosted a series of Business Best Practice Seminars which highlighted the various benefits of participating in the 10th cycle of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MRM) Business Award and the 2nd cycle of the MRM Business Innovation Award.
The seminar series was organised by the Chamber with the objective of imparting business excellence and innovation know-how to businesses in the UAE and GCC, and provided participants with a unique opportunity to learn from the experiences of leading organisations in responding to challenges and opportunities in their respective industries.
Seminars were joined by previous winners of the MRM Business Award who shared their experiences, best practices, and insights on a wide range of topics and themes, including the role of innovation in developing effective leadership strategies, value-added solutions and services, the impact of corporate social responsibility on organisational growth, the importance of employee engagement and practical ways that businesses can improve their customer experiences.
Kicking off the first seminar, Dr. Belaid Rettab, Director of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award Program and Chief Economist & Senior Director of the Economic Research & Sustainable Business Development Sector, Dubai Chamber, examined the role of innovation in driving sustainable business, and provided an overview of the MRM Business Award Program.
Madhavan Radhakrishnan, Group Director – Business Excellence, Axiom Telecom, and Ibrahim Al Najjar, Head of IT, DP World (UAE Region), presented innovative approaches adopted by the two award-winning companies which have boosted performance and created added value for their customers.
During the second seminar, Dr. Kamel Mellahi, Senior Manager – Centre for Responsible Business, Dubai Chamber, led a session titled “How CSR Impacts the Sustainable Growth of Organisations”, while Christopher Page, CEO – Middle East & Africa, Aon Hewitt, presented strategies, programmes and initiatives that the company has put into place to engage employees, adding that such efforts have led to an increase in the company’s bottom line.
Speaking on the topic of “Embracing Leading Processes to Enhance Customer Experience” Dr. Manoj Kumar Verma, Medical Director NMC Specialty Hospital – Al Nahda (NMC Healthcare Group), outlined several best practices and procedures that have enhanced customer satisfaction, some of which involved analysing customer data and attitudes, seeking and using customer feedback, and managing customer expectations.
Joining the final seminar were Michael Arnold Managing Director Stephanie Lutz, Head of Marketing – Middle East & Africa, Doka Gulf; and Ismail Belkaid, Head of Innovation at Network International; who touched on how the companies have enhanced their competitiveness by fostering a culture of innovation within their organisations.
Applications are currently being accepted for the 10th cycle of the MRM Business Award and the 2nd cycle of the MRM Business Innovation Award, which are open to all private companies in the UAE and GCC, regardless of their type, size, and sector (including non-free zone and free zone companies).
The deadline to apply online for the awards is February 28th, 2018, and registrations are limited and accepted on a first-come first-served basis.
A member of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and an initiative of Dubai Chamber, the MRM Business Award was initiated in 2005 to recognise and celebrate the success of organisations that contribute to the sustainable economic development of the UAE and the wider GCC region.
The MRM Business Innovation Award, launched by Dubai Chamber in cooperation with the UAE Ministry of Economy in 2015, aims to encourage companies across the GCC to embrace innovation.
