dubizzle reveals Ramadan 2018 trends

dubizzle, the leading classifieds platform in the UAE, has reviewed user trends, preferences and activities during Ramadan 2018.

Results show that visitor traffic during Ramadan peaked between 12-2pm and 5-6pm, compared to 1-2pm throughout the rest of the year. The lowest activity was recorded around 7pm (iftar time), then rose again during the evening hours. The most searched terms under the Items for Sale section of the platform included TV, iPhone, iPhone X, PS4, laptop as well as sofa, fridge, and washing machine, demonstrating a combination of necessities and leisure goods.

During the first ten days of Ramadan, the dubizzle platform also recorded:

  • Over 330k new listings posted –  a 60% increasecompared to the first ten days of Ramadan 2017.
  • Approximately 5.5 million visits to the platform, an average of 550,000 visitsper day.
  • More than 5 million messagesexchanged through the Instant chat feature, versus 555,000 in 2017 – an increase of 173%. The peak period for using the chat feature was between 1-2pm.
