Algerian contestant Adin Belmahdi was sent home during the ninth episode of Fashion Star Season Two – the first programme on Arabic television dedicated to discovering Arab fashion design talent. The show features Reem Acra, Lebanese international designer; Hanaa Ben Abd El Salam, Tunisian international fashion model and ambassador for Lancôme France; and Ramzi Tabiat, Creative Director of renowned retail brand Al Ostoura. The show was hosted as usual by Tunisian presenter Leila Ben Khalifa and welcomed representative Garth Allan, who will be selecting designs from the runway to be sold live on the website with total sales expected to exceed AED 500,000.

Continuous Reinvention At the beginning of the episode, which was aired on 26th April on Dubai One, Leila Ben Khalifa announced the survival of five contestants only, after the first episode saw the departure of Saudi participant Aisha Al Battal, followed by Walid Khairy from Egypt in the second episode. The third episode saw the departure of the Tunisian contestant Ziad Ben Houria, while Nazem Orra from Lebanon left the show in the fourth episode and Egyptian contestant Shayma Maher was sent home in the fifth. The sixth episode saw the departure of Tunisian contestant Yusra Al Riflawi. Reem Acra saved the Algerian contestant Samir Kerzabi from elimination in the seventh episode, but he left the show in the eighth episode.

Reem Acra then launched a new challenge, asking the participants to choose one of their old collections, modify two pieces, and complement them with two additional designs while preserving the identity of the original collection.

Unpredictable Events Before the competition began, everyone was surprised when Leila Bin Khalifa entered the studio with five bouquets and announced a further challenge for the contestants – creating designs inspired by flowers. The winner of the challenge would be guaranteed immunity to the elimination zone, automatically securing them a spot in the next episode.

While the contestants were busy working on the challenge, Jordanian contestant Tatyana Aceeva learned the sad news that her father had passed away. Even though she travelled to Jordan to mourn with her family, her design won the challenge.

A Kind Gesture After a short break, the participants introduced their main designs, with Joyce Saadeh presenting designs inspired by a former collection from Saudi contestant Samar Nasr El Din. Reem Acra praised the contestant’s ability to understand the concept of the new challenge, which earned her four stars and a spot in the final episode despite no offers from

Adin Belmahdi also presented designs based on previous pieces by Lebanese contestant Joyce Saadeh, but he was not successful and won one star only without any offers from Saudi contestant Samar Nasr El Din presented designs inspired by the working woman collection created by Adin Belmahdi, which were disliked by the jury with the exception of Hanaa Ben Abd El Salam, earning Adin one star but no offers from

In a kind gesture, the four contestants completed Tatyana Aceeva’s designs before she arrived at the last minute and thanked everyone for their efforts. Reem Acra visited Tatyana and offered her condolences, sharing the story of her own father’s death two years ago, when her brother encouraged her to continue her journey in the fashion world.

Tatyana Aceeva won the praise of the judges, who commended her new ‘Arabian Desert’ inspired designs. She earned a place in next episode after winning an offer from Garth Allan worth AED 92,000 for her entire collection.

The competition was concluded with Nadim Nemr’s designs, which were inspired by the collection Tatyana created for former Hollywood stars but did not earn the judges’ approval. He won one star from Hanaa, who liked his use of black and the way he altered Grace Kelly’s dress, but he did not win any offers from

The Elimination Zone Before Laila Ben Khalifa reviewed the participants standing in the elimination zone, the audience watched a special report about the contestants’ selection of their favourite designs, with Joyce Saadeh and Nadim Nemr winning unanimously.

Adin Belmahdi, Samar Nasr El Din and Nadim Nemr stood in the elimination zone, and Reem Acra decided to send Adin Belmahdi home by concluding the episode with her famous sign-off: “You are not the Fashion Star.”
