Samuel Joseph, a new member of Sharjah Golf and Club, showed that his golf is up to the mark as he became the 8th ever SGSC Ramadan Open Golf Champion Supported by Centro Sharjah by Rotana & iPro on Saturday 3rd June. Samuel playing in his first event at SGSC open his account on the day exceptionally well as he posted 19 Stableford pointed on the front nine, consisting of three net Birdies and a few dropped shots along the way. On the back nine he was almost able to match this consistency but after a dropped shot on the 18th hole posted a level par 18 points on the back nine. Giving him a Championship winning score of 37 points, one shot clear of his nearest competitor, next session’s club captain Mukti Rai. On the day Mukti picked up the Division A champion title. In contrast to Samuel’s game Mukti’s rounds was a tail of two halves, his front nine was a true test of resolution, consisting of five dropped shots, posting a front nine score of 16 Stableford points. The back nine was a different story as Mukti rallied and posted five net birdies, with only a few dropped shots he was able to post 20 points. Giving Mukti a Division A winning total of 36 Stableford points.
Winning the Division B for the golfers who had a handicap index of 12.0 and above was Sandeep Singh of the EGF who claimed the spoils also with 36 points. Very similar to Mukti, Snadeep struggled to get going on the front nine but found some form and posted 21 Stableford points on the back nine to give him a total of 36 points.
With many of the SGSC scratch league team members supporting the event Gross Division was going to be extremely competitive and very close. In the end the defending Ramadan Open Champion Nathan Fisher home the bragging rights over his scratch team counterparts as he edged home with 34 gross Stableford points. Mrs. Satnam Kaur of EGF picked up the winning prize in the Ladies Division with a 29 points tally.
Director of Golf Martin Duff was delighted with the field which took part in the largest field to date in June. General Manager of Centro Sharjah Michael Kasch was in attendance for the presentation as he also distributed fantastic night’s stays for the top 4 golfers inclusive of breakfast and lunch from the ever popular Centro Sharjah Hotel ideally located next to Sharjah International Airport. The event also saw the addition of the support of iPro Sports, the revolutionary isotonic sports drink was which was well received by the competitors on the day and judging by performance, the product was obviously very effective.Email This Post
