For the second year in a row Anantara invited guests to fill Sir Bani Yas Island’s sky with colours at its annual Kite Fest. With over 100 day visitors to the island as well as many hotel guests joining the festival, the event was again a great success.
Held on Friday, 28 April 2017 at Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara, the Sir Bani Yas Kite Fest was an event for the entire family. Guests were invited to visit Sir Bani Yas Island for a day and enjoy kite building and flying over the island’s northern beach. While a mini adventure park and beach activities, such as kayaking helped to cool down in between the ambitious kite flying competition, a complimentary sausage sizzle and soft drinks catered for the physical well-being.
The kite competition started at noon and awarded participants for their kite creations in three categories: the most creative kite, the biggest kite and the most outstanding animal shaped kite. Participants were allowed to bring their own homemade kite to the event, but were also provided with a kite kit to build it on the beach during the day. The award for the most creative kite went to the Furtado Family, for their pyramid kite, winning them a one night stay at Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara. Paolo Ferrarese whose stingray kite was awarded as the biggest kite, won a one night stay at Anantara Al Yamm Villa Resort and the Mueller family took home a one night stay an Anantara Al Sahel Villa Resort for their wildlife kite.
“Kite Fest 2017 was another successful event on Sir Bani Yas Island.” says Christian Gerart, General Manager of Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Resorts. “It was lovely to see some returning visitors, but also many new faces who already expressed interest for next year’s event” he continues.
Kite Fest 2017 would have not been possible without the generous support of sponsors and media partners including: Adventure HQ, Yalla Abu Dhabi, Al Khareef Al Akhdar Agricultural, Dafoos Fire Protection, M.H Enterprises, Al Ahlia, African & Eastern.
