- More than 150 academics and researchers to discuss the most pressing topics in geophysics and applications
The Emirates Scientists Council has endorsed the fourth International Conference on Geophysical Engineering, hosted by the United Arab Emirates University in collaboration with the Municipality of Al Ain.
The conference will discuss the most pressing local, regional and international topics related to geophysics engineering and its applications, with wide international participation of more than 150 researchers, academics and experts specialized in the field.
The endorsement highlights the importance of the conference, which will discuss a wide array of strategic topics that contribute to the efforts of the local entities to study the geographic nature of the UAE, and explore ways to benefit from the outputs of specialized research in this area in the country, increase safety standards and reduce the rate of error in infrastructure projects.
“The Council’s decision to endorse the fourth International Conference on Geophysics Engineering highlights the role the Council plays in endorsing conferences that promote the sharing of knowledge, has an impact on the sector and discusses the recent developments in the field,” said HE Sarah Al Amiri, Chairwoman of the Emirates Scientists Council.
“Hosting the conference in the UAE is testament to the country’s position in knowledge, science and academic research. It comes in line with our wise leadership’s vision of fostering scientific thinking. The conference is a great opportunity to strengthen synergies in the UAE’s transformation to a knowledge-based economy as per the National Agenda for UAE Vision 2021,” Al Amiri added.
Eng. It has also been endorsed by the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, which has listed the conference on the emirate’s agenda.
Professor Ahmed Murad, Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of the UAE, and Head of the Organizing Committee, commended the importance of the conference. He said: “We are delighted with the endorsement of the conference, which has become a beacon for the world in scientific research. This achievement reflects the joint work of all the committees of the Conference, and puts it at the forefront of academic events. The endorsement also encourages the organizing committee to ensure that the papers submitted are of the highest quality and standards.”
The conference will discuss the results of the latest research in natural geological hazards, methods in geophysics used in the detection and exploration of groundwater, and conserving the environment. It will also discuss modern theoretical and applied methods in the analysis of geophysical information and applications, and other relevant scientific and technical topics.
