Korean lady golfer M. Y. Cho won the first of the July R Holdings Hotels – Ibis Styles Jumeirah midweek Stableford’s held at Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club, winning against a record field of 32 golfers.
19 Stableford points proved enough to triumph, meaning the left hander won a 2 night stay for 2 people in the Ibis Styles Hotel in Jumeirah.
Runner up was Addil Khan on 18 points who, had he not entered a 6 on the par 3 8th hole (instead of a 3), he would have won. The final prize of the day went to George Liu for best gross (15 points). Both Khan and Liu won meal vouchers for AED 300 and AED 200 in the Pipping Hot and Khana Kaanne restaurants respectively. All 3 winners also won Golf World Pro Shop vouchers for their efforts.
SGSC Golf Events Manager Phil Scott offered an explanation as to why a record field was achieved “since June we have reduced the entry levy to just AED 10 per person and introduced 18:30pm shotguns which run alongside the members run event ‘The Weekly Waggle’ where 15 to 20 golfers each week play also in a friendly money game. In addition all our weekly midweek Stablefords are on a Tuesday now (we used to alternate days). It was great to see so many playing and a very reasonable winning scores, despite a large field”.
