This summer will see an interesting twist on an ever popular event at SGSC, the pairs BMW event is now the BMW X5 Series Open Social. It will consist of the a variety of different pairs formats with the winners collecting individual points throughout the five series events over the summer months, in the race to become the ‘2017 BMW X5 Series Most Valuable Player (MVP)’.
The Series Opener on May 27th has set the standard with some awesome team work from the renowned pairing of Ben Mulvaney & Nick Hymas as they posted a 63, nine under par total, five shots clear of their nearest competitors. The duo opened their account with an impressive 29 shots in the Texas scramble format on the front nine, setting their standard for the days play. In the back nine’s Greensome format they continued the trend and posted 34, two under par total. The pair picked up the trophy as well as the Pro-shop vouchers and the individual MPV points. Nick also picked up the Longest Drive prize and with that three additional MVP points, driving him straight to the top of the leaderboard in the BMW X5 Series MVP standings after round one.
In hot pursue of the duo is Club Captain Vivian Verma & playing partner Sharad Anand, they picked up the back nine prize and the individual MVP points with a net 34 for the nine holes. Vivian also picked up the nearest pin prize and the three additional MVP points, moving him into third place in the Series. The front nine Texas Scramble winners also came from a retuning pairing of Clive Piper & Andrew Thom as they recorded a 31 net medal score.
