In accordance with the spirit of the Holy Month and its values of solidarity and togetherness, Barwa Bank, Qatar’s most progressive Shari’ah-compliant services provider, organized an Iftar event for the residents at the Qatar Foundation for Elderly People Care (Ihsan), as part of its #WelcomeRamadanWithGoodness campaign.
For the second year in a row, and in the framework of its Ramadan Campaign this year, the Bank held this open-handed initiative towards the elderly as a celebration of the Holy Month’s noble human values and culture of charity.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Talal Al-Khaja, Chief Communications Officer at Barwa Bank, said:“At Barwa Bank, we consider the holy month of Ramadan an ideal opportunity for all of us to translate the meaning of cooperation and brotherhood into real terms. We especially value initiatives that give back to today’s Fathers and yesterday’s young men, who have spared no effort in serving their society and nation, and establish a promising future for the present generation. Thus, hosting an Iftar in their honor for the second consecutive year is the least we can do at Barwa Bank to express our gratitude and appreciation for their tremendous hard work. We at Barwa bank, emphasize our commitment to generally honoring their valuable contributions with modest gestures not only during the holy month but throughout the year.”
Barwa Bank staff’s visit to the residents at Ihsan comes as a part of the Bank’s corporate social responsibility, a core element of the Barwa Bank brand. Anchored by its mission and values, the Bank is determined to contribute to developing a well-formed environment for all to live and work in.
From his part, Mr. Jaber Mohammed Al Marri, Director of Media and Public Relations at Ihsan, praised Barwa Bank’s initiative. He stated that the Iftar with the elderly was part of an excellent relationship between the Center and the Bank, perhaps one of the most successful partnerships between Ihsan and such a respected institution of the Qatari community, aiming to integrate the elderly with all segments of the society and achieving the vision of the Ihsan Center. Stating that the provision of a safe and dignified life helps the mental health of society’s elderly, Al Marri noted that the Iftar is in honor of the elderly parents who have exerted all efforts to serve the Qatari society. He also stressed that Ihsan welcomes all efforts towards providing services and facilities to the elderly residents.
During the collective Iftar, Al Marri, speaking on behalf of Mr. Mubarak bin Abdul Aziz Al Khalifa, Executive Director of Ihsan, welcomed the visiting Barwa Bank delegation and their commendable gesture of visiting and joining Ihsan staff and parents for Iftar. Al Marri admired the joyful family atmosphere which positively affected the elderly during the visit. He also acclaimed the huge support Barwa Bank provides through sponsoring a range of programs offered by the Ihsan Center. Finally, he hoped that this cooperation and partnership would continue for both, their shared interests and the interests of the elderly in the Qatari society.
In addition to sponsoring the Ihsan Iftar, Barwa Bank recently launched in partnership with Qatar Charity, a new credit card that cares for the society. Powered by MasterCard, the new Barwa Bank Qatar Charity co-branded credit card empowers its holders to make a difference in the community with every purchase they make, through a charity contribution that is made by Barwa Bank every time a client uses the card. In addition, the bank launched this year as well its Ramadan Football tournament, giving companies and football lovers the chance to exercise within a team building atmosphere.
